Introducing dm4

A free, VST3 sample-based drum machine for Windows
that's compatible with LM-4 kits

Introduced in 1999, LM-4 was Steinberg's first commercial VST Instrument. Written by Charlie Steinberg, it was a tribute to Roger Linn's first drum machine, the venerable LM-1, which had debuted 19 years earlier.

amphioniq's dm4 is a modern homage to the classic LM-4, offering compatibility with existing LM-4 kits and faithfully reproducing the features from the original. dm4 is intended as a playful way to celebrate the legacy and simplicity of the LM-4 as a VST3 plug-in.

Specifications:

Faithfully loads LM-4 drum sets in the original text (*.txt) file format, making it easy to edit to create your own. Along with Steinberg’s original content, there are numerous third-party kits available in the depths of the Internet.
An example set it provided, as a belated nod to 909 day.
18 Pads, offering independent pan, pitch, and level controls, with each allowing for up to 127 velocity zones.
A global mode offers an overall volume control (responding to MIDI controller #7), along with tuning and velocity sensitivity controls.
6 outputs: a stereo mix, complemented by four additional, assignable outputs.
Supports 16- or 24-bit, Wave or AIFF, stereo or mono audio files.
Compatible with VST3 hosts running on Windows 11-based x64, ARM64EC, or ARM64 systems.
